Sunday Fun: Seriously? Waterproof Your Cell Phone? This is AWESOME…

Okay, there is an opening bikini scene – obviously not necessary but may help to draw in some viewers. Just past this is essentially a modern day marvel.
It has always been a panic point when I get my iPhone near water. In fact, my family always on rice alert. This appears to alleviate all of that. (I have to say that if this works 100%, it will become a phone industry standard. There must be some reason that it is not included already…
Just keeps on getting better….
Here is a drowning of an HTC device. Still works! Wait, they remove the back too?
Somebody debunk this before I run out and try to buy this.. I mean the entire company :-)

From all that I can find, it seem real.
There are a couple articles floating around the Tech web that all feature this rumor:
“According to its trusted sources, the next iPhone and the Galaxy S3 will both feature Liquipel treatment, rendering the phones water repellent and less susceptible to liquid/moisture damage.”
I’d link to it, but I don’t want to seem like a spammer. Just search Google or Bing and I’ll get the same results I did. If it is true, then awesome! I like many have dropped my phone in water. Heck, I even dropped my Pager in a toilet back in the day of Pagers.
Cheers. :)

Hah! They have been working on a similar product _ what is taking themSo long?
Andrew,
What they are describing is a vapor deposition, where some polymer or urethane is dissolved in a dilute liquid and then allowed to settle on the phone and then cured/dried by a UV or IR lamp. . .There are usually two different outcomes – either the layer of mystery goo is too thin to protect the interior parts and it is only a glorified screen protector or it is completely effective for keeping moisture out, but all the heat management properties of the phone are compromised and the owner gets the innards of his phone cooked.
Great to have Das back on the program. Gotta have him as a cohost, but please . . .please warn him that he shouldn't do his own stunts in those movie roles, . . . .sure it was probably fun to paraglide between the two buildings and then jump on the microplane in that scene that was cut from the last Mission Impossible movie. . . . . but really . . . .we can't lose the appearances on the Disciplined Investor for some passing fame in Hollywood.
Got you,I will tell Das ..
