I have a first generation iPod touch and really like it. I use my touch to read ebooks, check the news and play a couple of games. I have 3 different apps that will read ebooks loaded on my touch. Ereader, Stanza, and Bookshelf. The ereader application has been around for many years. It was originally the Palm reader. The books that I purchased when it was the Palm reader are still available to me. The ereader software is available on Mac and Windows computers and many different type of handheld devices. I have moved my ereader books from a Palm M505, Zire 23 and now my touch. I have also moved them from a windows PC to a Mac without any problems. I do not have any interest in purchasing a Kindle because the ebooks are locked to only the Kindle. I also will not pay more for a book than the current paperback price ($7.99). I have considered buying an iPad but will wait until after the first hardware update. I plan on using the iPad for genealogy research and I think it will be great for traveling (eliminates the laptop and the associated hassles at the airport).
