Video: WSJ “Stimulus Scam” with Peter Schiff

January 18, 2009 9:32 am

The excessive spending and ridiculous level of government intervention is the cause of the problem, not the solution exclaims EuroPacific’s Peter Schiff. This is a continuation of a similar discussion Peter and I had in a recent episode of The Disciplined Investor Podcast .

Is this a reasonable and rationale thought or do we need government right now as the lender (and financial savior) of last resort?

Obviously Schiff is a bit extreme, but sans the vocal inflictions and inability to share the air time ; ) , the stuff he is referencing and predicting is very compelling and unfortunately for this country, sounds exactly like where we are headed to a certain extent. It is an extent to which the government's ability or lack thereof to take their heads out of their god forsaken ASSE$, wil define the true nature of this 3-5 year event. Much of this stuff aligns very well with one of your other great guests, Mr. Dent. Its a lot of scary stuff that CNBC, perma-bulls, and the creators of buy and hold cannot handle and most likely will refute all the way to the soup kitchen line, if it gets that far.

…..(continued to due length limit of commen) Our problem has mostly to do with our inability to accept the reality of our own situation. I plan to be long oil, long natural gas, short Dollar, long Euro, short Treasuries (in the short term), and then long treasuries when the massive inflation beings to set in some years from now. The goal of ZIRP and quantitative easing is to inflate out of this, and oh will we ever inflate. Its maybe not hyperinflation, thats a bit too much, but its going to blow the socks off a lot stock market participants who decided we were at a 'bottom' several weeks ago, whatever that means. Humans always overshoot, and we have set ourselves up to overshoot big time using this potent 'medication'.
