Rachel Maddow/Krugman: Economic Freak-out 09/19/08
This is a scary view of what is the real- behind-the-scenes of the current economy and the even more troublesome outlook.
Is it really this bad?…comment, comment, comment….

This didn’t make me feel any more confident about the markets. It seems like the fed and the treasurery are really reaching for a solution and they don’t know what to do, they’re just shotgunning possible stuff out there.
Not that I want to be lied to or anything to feel confident, I want to know that truth, and I want transparency in the markets so I can make informed decisions about my investments. Right now I’m feeling pretty smug about hedging 25% of my portfolio with a double inverse of the S&P 500 and a double inverse of the Dow Financials (yeah, I know, I have financials in my portfolio, they’re still paying dividends, I just hope Citigroup doesn’t fail now too) as of last Monday, but I don’t think that the “powers that be” have a handle on what to do to stop this meltdown.

It is a problem of epic proportions
